Minister of State for Media Diaa Rashwan praised the longstanding historical ties between the Egyptian and Syrian peoples, expressing Egypt’s readiness to strengthen media cooperation with Syria. Rashwan made the remarks during a meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, with Syrian Information Minister Khaled Zaarour, held at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo on the sidelines of the 56th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.

During the meeting, Rashwan outlined the support provided by Egypt’s political leadership to the media sector to develop its capabilities and enhance its reach and influence both domestically and internationally.

He also explained the role and responsibilities of the Ministry of State for Information in coordinating with all components of the press and media system to advance the sector’s development, while supporting media institutions and their employees in keeping pace with modern developments in media sciences and applications.

For his part, the Syrian information minister praised the standing of Egyptian media, citing its long history and considerable capabilities. He also commended its role in supporting Arab causes and its coverage of current developments in Syria, which is seeking stability, development and cooperation with all Arab countries.

Zaarour also praised Egypt’s comprehensive progress across various sectors, noting that he had visited the New Capital and its major landmarks, which he said had been built in a remarkably short time to high standards in keeping with modern developments.

He described the city as a model of advanced urban development that could offer valuable lessons to countries seeking progress and modernization.

The Syrian minister also thanked Egypt’s leadership and people for hosting Syrian nationals and providing them with opportunities.
