Fans share their real-life encounters with Sindi Dlathu!

Social media was buzzing as fans shared their real-life encounters with renowned actress Sindi Dlathu.

The frenzy stemmed from a resurfaced clip from The Konvo Show, where fellow actress Jo-Anne Reyneke recalled behind-the-scenes moments from her time working with Sindi.

JO-ANNE: ‘I LOVE THAT WOMAN’

The Generations: The Legacy actress beamed with joy as she praised Dlathu’s humility, a quality she shows to everyone, no matter their professional ranking.

“I love that lady with all my heart. The way she makes people feel, from the smallest guy to the most important guy. I learnt that from her,” she said.

“I learnt how to be a lead from Sis Sindi. How to not be the most important person, even though everybody else keeps saying that to you,” she continued.

“She speaks to everyone. She remembers people’s names, from grips to catering to director. I love that woman,” she added.

The clip, shared by Melo_Malebo on X (formerly Twitter), drew over 10K likes and 50 comments. Most reflected positive experiences, while some were not so flattering.

Fans highlighted Sindi’s humility, warmth, and kindness upon meeting her at the mall, around their neighbourhoods, or even at the SABC. 

@Tasko_N: I can attest to this; I used to see her at Campus Square when I was a student. She’s very warm and kind, extremely beautiful too.

@Rrrrrraaah: I once met her at the SABC studios, and she greeted me with so much humility.

@kasiguy19: I have met her once; she was a kind and stopped to ask how I am doing.

@Thando_katli: She recently attended a function ekhweni lakhe[in-laws], which is two houses away from ekhaya [our house]. When I tell you, that lady immediately gelled with everyone and was so kind and hospitable throughout the entire weekend, especially towards kids. Love her down.

However, a fork in the road popped up when only two X users came forward with their unpleasant encounters with Sindi, one even recalling an incident dating back to 2009.

When asked to elaborate, the user described the experience as “absolutely horrendous,” but chose to extend grace, adding that perhaps Sindi has since grown.

@SibaAtSea: How she treats wait staff is a whole other topic. I’ll never forget my 2009 encounter with her.

@SizweMkhize then asked: How was that?

@SibaAtSea responded: Absolutely horrendous. Thank God Somizi’s mom was there, so I focused my attention on her, but wow. Maybe she’s grown over the years, but I, of course, never forgot.

TINAH: ‘THAT WOMAN PRAYED FOR ME’

Another talented actress, Tinah Mnumzana, also sang Sindi’s praises during an interview on the King David Studio Podcast.

Speaking about her experience in the award-winning drama series The River, Mnumzana mentioned how Sindi prayed for her.

“Sindi prayed for me. That woman prayed for me. In her room, she knelt down and held my hand, and I actually cried. She just prayed for me,” she said.
