2027: Accord Rep candidate targets one million votes for Tinubu in Osun

The Accord Party candidate for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has said President Bola Tinubu is on course to secure more than one million votes in Osun State in the 2027 presidential election.

Olajengbesi stated this on Saturday after a meeting with the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

According to a statement personally signed by him, the lawyer and spokesman for the re-election campaign of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, said the reconciliation achieved in the state after the governorship election had created an opportunity to mobilise support for Tinubu.

He said, “With the reconciliation achieved in Osun State and the commitment expressed by Governor Ademola Adeleke towards President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our political objective is clear: to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Osun State in the next presidential election.”

Olajengbesi also commended Seyi Tinubu for his support for youth participation in governance and what he described as his fair position during the Osun governorship election.

He said, “Perhaps one of the most consequential bets young Nigerians have had around this administration is Seyi Tinubu.

“He has consistently chosen to engage with young people, strengthen the negotiating power of our generation, support aspirations, open doors, build relationships and invest in possibilities.”

Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party won the August governorship election with 511,067 votes, while the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, polled 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salam, scored 17,180 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission said Osun State had more than 2.3 million registered voters, with 1.9 million Permanent Voter Cards collected.

Shortly after he was declared the winner by INEC, Adeleke reiterated his support for Tinubu’s re-election.
