Bills release Gardner-Johnson after he served one-game spitting suspension
The Buffalo Bills have released veteran safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, the team announced Tuesday.
A source told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe that the Bills made the move because of his inconsistent play and not the spitting incident that resulted in his suspension for Sunday's win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Gardner-Johnson, who signed as a free agent with the Bills in the offseason, was suspended for spitting at Raiders star tight end Brock Bowers in a Week 6 game against the Raiders.
