Planning a coastal trip? Here’s what Tuesday’s tides look like

Translate

If you’re heading to the coast on Tuesday, check the tide times before planning your activities, as spring tides bring changes to water levels along South Africa’s coastline.

However, tides are only part of the picture. Wind, waves and swell and the shape of the seabed can also affect conditions along the shore and at sea.

When to expect the next spring tide

Spring tides are important to watch out for because they bring higher high tides and lower low tides than usual, changing conditions along the coast.

The most recent spring tide coincided with the new moon on Saturday, 10 October. The next spring tide is expected around the full moon on Monday, 26 October 2026.

These changes can affect swimming, surfing, fishing and other coastal activities. Higher tides can cover rocks and reefs, while lower tides expose more of the shoreline.

Check the tide times and the latest weather and marine warnings before you head to the coast.
