Sara Duterte Trial Day 27: SEC exec to verify her business interests

MANILA, Philippines — As the impeachment court continues to tackle Vice President Sara Duterte’s unexplained wealth on Monday, a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) official will testify on Duterte’s supposed business interests.
SEC Company Registration and Monitoring Department Director Gerardo del Rosario is expected to authenticate the agency’s records on Duterte’s declared business interests.

He was supposed to testify the previous week, but the House prosecution panel postponed his schedule due to the volume of corporate records Del Rosario is expected to verify.

Del Rosario was also set as the second witness of the week, but the House prosecution panel has shared its intention to withdraw as witness Civil Service Commission Assistant Commissioner Ariel Ronquillo, expected to testify on the guidelines for Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.
The SEC director’s testimony will corroborate Ombudsman Central Records Division Officer-in-Charge Karen Batu’s testimony last week, on the contents of Duterte’s declared SALNs from 2007 to 2025.
In 2007, Duterte’s net worth was roughly P7.25 million, which ballooned by around 1,200 percent in 2025, when her net worth reached over P98 million.
Duterte also supposedly did not declare acquisition costs for her business interests. /mcm/dp/mcm
