'For my nephews, it was too late': Ofri Bibas visits protest tent of Haymanut Kasau's family

Ofri Bibas, sister of former hostage Yarden Bibas whose family was killed after being abducted to Gaza, visited the protest tent of Haymanut Kasau's family near the Supreme Court on Wednesday, the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre and 955 days since Kasau went missing.

Kasau was nine when she disappeared from Safed more than two and a half years ago and has not been seen since.

"It is heartbreaking to see a family - just like ours - forced to fight for something that should be a given," Bibas said.

She joined Kasau's family in calling for the Shin Bet (Israeli Security Agency) to take charge of Kasau's missing person case.

She also called for Israelis to support the family at the protest tent in Jerusalem, "just as you were there for us," saying, "For my nephews, it was too late; they were not saved in time."

Jerusalem Municipality approves Kasau protest tent near Supreme Court

The Jerusalem Municipality approved the protest tent at Shimon Agranat Square for Kasau's family on Sunday, with the agreement allowing the tent to remain near the Supreme Court through October 22.

The agreement also rendered moot an administrative petition filed by the family and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel.

The Jerusalem District Court, sitting as a court for administrative affairs, struck the petition from its docket at the petitioners’ request and canceled a hearing scheduled for Monday.
