With 2027 just around the corner, we are only a few months away from the launch of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves. Not only will it mark the next major Pokémon installment, but it will kickstart the franchise's 10th Generation, so a lot is riding on Game Freak. However, with the most recent Pokémon entries being criticized for their lack of ambition, it seems as though Winds and Waves, which will take players to a tropical archipelago region, will have to be bigger and better than ever before.
Pokémon Winds & Waves Is Set To Welcome A Huge Pokédex
At the time of writing, official information regarding Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves remains pretty scarce. Announced back in February 2026, we know that Winds and Waves will take place on a map inspired by Southeast Asia, primarily Indonesia, Malaysia, and parts of the Philippines, and that it will feature multiple islands with underwater access and gameplay.
Additionally, we also know the Starter Pokémon which every player will begin the game with: Grass-type Browt, the Fire-type Pombon, and the Water-type Gecqua. However, any other information, including the full Pokédex, map size, and even release window is purely speculation, but that does not mean that rumors are not strife in the community.
What we do know, however, is that Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves could potentially welcome 300+ brand-new Pokémon. Whilst we do not have the full list, 54 of them have officially been confirmed, including the adorable Starter 'mons.
Pokémon Winds & Waves Welcomes 54 New Faces
As well as the Starters, Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will also star their evolutions, as well as two specific Pikachus that will be available to catch. This means that we can also expect Pichu and Raichu, and potentially even Alolan Raichu.
Of course, there are also regional evolutions that we do not yet know about, but we do know that some Kanto Pokémon will make an appearance, including: Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Bellossom, Krabby, Kingler, Tangela, and Tangrowth. Last but not least, Johto fans will be pleased to hear that Ledyba, Ledian, Slugma, Magcargo, and Corsola will also join the ever-growing roster.
Other than that, the map for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves remains merely a rumor, as well as the potential Elite Four. However, with 2027 swiftly coming to an end and the upcoming Pokémon entry expected to launch in 2027, we can safely assume that we will receive plenty of official updates, including a look at gameplay, in upcoming months. For now, however, we can only speculate as to whether or not the beginning of Gen 10 and the launch of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will be a bang or a flop.
