Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, has received approval from the National Universities Commission to commence six new academic programmes.

The approval was conveyed in a letter dated October 22, 2026, signed by the NUC Acting Director of Academic Planning, Dr Ayuba Mohammed, on behalf of the commission’s Executive Secretary.

A statement issued on Friday by Adedoyin A.A., on behalf of the university’s Head of Information and Corporate Affairs, listed the newly approved programmes as BA Christian Theology, BSc Transport Management, BSc Security and Investment Management, BSc Information and Communication Technology, BSc Industrial Mathematics and BSc Criminology.

The university said prospective students could apply for admission into the programmes from the 2027/2028 academic session.

Adedoyin said the approval followed a resource verification visit by panels of experts who assessed the human and material resources available for the programmes to ensure compliance with national academic standards.

“This milestone reflects the university’s unwavering commitment to expanding educational frontiers and addressing the evolving needs of society and industry,” the statement said.

The university added that the NUC had specified in its approval letter that the programmes were not authorised for part-time delivery and must retain their approved nomenclature.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatola Ayodele, expressed delight at the approval, describing it as a significant step towards achieving the university’s vision of academic excellence and innovation.

Ayodele also appreciated the Ekiti State Governor and visitor to the university, Biodun Oyebanji, for his support, saying the approval reflected his commitment to strengthening the institution’s academic standards and global relevance.
