Moyes to scout Alebiosu in Blackburn friendly

Everton manager David Moyes is reportedly set to assess Super Eagles fullback Ryan Alebiosu when the Toffees face Blackburn Rovers in a behind-closed-doors friendly during the international break.

Alebiosu, who joined Rovers in the summer of 2025, has established himself as an important figure for the Championship club, scoring one goal and providing six assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

This season, he has not missed any Championship game for the club while he also has an assist in the EFL Cup.

His impressive performances have attracted interest from Everton, who reportedly considered making a move for the Nigerian defender during the summer transfer window before he opted to remain at Ewood Park.

According to Goodison News, Everton could face Blackburn in a private friendly during the international break, with Moyes looking to use the encounter to maintain his squad’s fitness during the extended three-week break.

The Everton manager is also reportedly expected to use the opportunity to assess Alebiosu closely amid the possibility of a move for the Nigerian international during the January transfer window.

The former Arsenal fullback will be available for the encounter after being left out of the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.

Everton are expected to be active during the winter window as Moyes looks to strengthen his squad, with the Merseyside club reportedly needing additional depth in several positions, including attack and the fullback areas.

A strong performance against Everton could therefore provide Alebiosu with another opportunity to impress Moyes, with the Nigerian defender potentially emerging as a target for the Toffees when the January 2027 transfer window opens.

Alebiosu was part of coach Eric Chelle’s team to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco where the Super Eagles finished third. He featured once in the tournament before sustaining an injury that ended his campaign abruptly.
