Euromatch NPFL: Buter Laments Sporting Lagos’ Dropped Points Against Barau FC

Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has expressed disappointment after his side were held to a 1-1 draw by Barau FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League ,NPFL, Matchday 6 encounter at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Saturday.

Barau FC took the lead on the stroke of half-time when Joseph Atule converted from the penalty spot after Stanley Oganbor was fouled inside the box.

Sporting Lagos responded strongly after the break, with Sodiq Ayoade restoring parity for the home side.

Despite both teams creating opportunities, neither could find a winning goal in the final 30 minutes as the points were shared.

The result saw Barau FC maintain top spot in the standings and extend their unbeaten run.

Buter Unhappy With Barau FC’s Draw

Buter believes Sporting Lagos deserved more from the keenly contested encounter.

“Yeah, disappointing, like you said. I think we deserved more than a draw. We should have won this game,” Buter told the club’s media.

“I think another day, the officiating is better, I think we get maximum points from this game. I am happy with the fight and courage.”

Failure To Convert Chances

Buter also rued his team’s inability to make their chances count.

“Fatigue is part of the game. I think we created chances, but we didn’t score early enough and the opponent took what they got,” Buter said.

“But again, the fight and resilience to get something, you are going to need it in another game.

“We wanted to start strong like we did against Inter Lagos. We just have to keep fighting.”
