Woman Who Predicted Zimbabwean Buinessman Wicknell Chivayo’s Death Goes Viral

Translate

An old social media post predicting the death of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo in an aircraft accident has resurfaced and gone viral online following his death in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The post was published on X (formerly Twitter) on May 8, 2025, by Susan Mutami. In the message, she claimed that Chivayo would die in an aviation accident “very soon” and explicitly asked her followers to save the post.

“He knows it’s the truth, and the truth hurts. Wicknell will die in a plane crash very soon. Save this post,” Mutami wrote in the May 2025 post.

The message re-emerged across social platforms roughly 16 months after its initial publication, drawing widespread attention due to its specific reference to an aircraft crash. However, the post offered no evidence or explanation behind the claim, and there is no indication that the writer possessed advance knowledge of the incident.

Fatal Crash in Marondera

Chivayo, 43, was among six people killed when a private helicopter crashed at around 5:00 PM on Wednesday in the Marondera Rural area, located southeast of Harare.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that the aircraft caught fire upon impact, leaving no survivors. Family spokesperson Herbert Chivayo later confirmed that both the businessman and his wife, Lucy Muteke, perished in the accident.

Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana confirmed the death toll, while air disaster investigators and emergency response teams were deployed to the site to clear the wreckage and determine the cause of the crash, which remains unknown.

A High-Profile and Controversial Business Figure

Chivayo was the founder and head of Intratrek Zimbabwe, an engineering and infrastructure firm best known for securing the contract for the 100-megawatt Gwanda Solar Power Project. The flagship project had faced years of legal disputes and delays before Intratrek received a formal notice to proceed earlier in September 2026.

Known as much for his flamboyance as his commercial ventures, Chivayo frequently captured public attention through his lavish lifestyle, collection of luxury vehicles, high-profile philanthropic donations, and close ties to political figures across the region.
