WASHINGTON, Oct 23 — US President Donald Trump has said he should be allowed to run for a third presidential term after suggesting that the 2020 election was rigged.

“I think I have the right to run again, because they cheated,” Trump said at a rally in the state of Iowa yesterday, reported Sputnik/ RIA Novosti.

He again claimed that he won the elections three times but acknowledged that the constitutional limit on the number of presidential terms leaves no room for a different interpretation.

The next US presidential election is due in 2028.

Trump served as US president from 2017-2021. In November 2024, he again won the presidential election and took office on January 20, 2025, becoming the 47th president of the country.
