Coronation Street reveals Gary's new cellmate as Ross makes surprising move

Coronation Street's Gary Windass has only been banged up for just over a week but his life inside prison keeps getting more dramatic. Gary had found out that his cellmate Jonsey was dealing drugs and feared he could be implicated if he was caught, jeopardising his hopes for an early release.
But on Monday's episode it seemed as if Gary's problems could be behind him as Jonesy apologised and the pair agreed to bury the hatchet if he kept his drug dealing away from their cell.

Gary is also dealing with having Tyrone's evil father Ross Wilkes as his prison guard, keeping a special eye on him.
On tonight's episode (Tuesday, 27 October) Gary found out that Jonesy had broken his promise and was still dealing. After Gary confronted him, Jonesy planted drugs under his pillow when he left the cell.
Later Ross and another guard searched the cell, with Ross finding the planted drugs. But, instead of saying anything, Ross pocketed them, leaving Jonesy stunned and Gary confused when the guard gave him a wink.
Then, in the communal area, Ross searched Jonesy’s pockets and pretended to pull out the drugs he found earlier. Ross then took Jonesy off to the governor’s office before smiling at Gary.
Later Ross introduced Gary to his new cellmate, the less-problematic seeming Marco, informing him that Jonesy has been moved to a different wing. After being told of Jonesy's fate, Ross then informed Gary that he "owes" him one.

Mikey North, who plays Gary, previously revealed that his character will have anything but a peaceful time behind bars.
"Without wanting to give too much away, the amount of hours I've spent in makeup getting injuries put on for the two months that the viewers haven't seen would probably suggest not!" North said.
"Gary's surely done the most fight scenes in the history of Coronation Street and he's probably about to add to it in some serious numbers…"
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
