Is Role Model the Most Famous Person From Maine? Here’s What He Said on ‘Chicken Shop Date’

Translate

As far as current pop music goes, Role Model is probably Maine’s most famous export — but what about celebrities in general?

While guesting on the Friday (Oct. 2) premiere episode of Amelia Dimoldenberg’s final season of “Chicken Shop Date,” the singer born Tucker Pillsbury pondered whether he has the most star power out of everyone from his home state. “Anna Kendrick’s from Maine,” he pointed out, while the show’s host noted that famed horror author Stephen King is also from the Pine Tree State.

“He’s probably sold more stuff than me,” Pillsbury said of King, who indeed is one of the best-selling novelists of all time. “Got more money.”

After a bit of back-and-forth, Dimoldenberg told the singer: “You’re not as successful as Stephen King, no. That’s just a fact.”

“You’re starting to hurt my feelings,” Pillsbury replied. “[He has a] whole different job.”

The jury’s still out on who exactly is Maine’s most famous celebrity, but other front-runners include actor Patrick Dempsey and sports personality Erin Andrews. And while Role Model may not quite have the sales numbers that King has, the musician recently scored his very first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 with Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, which amassed 24,000 copies sold in the United States in its first week out, according to Luminate.

The new album also features a collaboration with Pillsbury’s then-girlfriend Dakota Johnson, who contributes a spoken-word section to “Love I You.” And, speaking of the brunette actress…

Later in their conversation, Dimoldenberg asked the star what his “type” is, to which he initially told the blonde British personality, “You’re not gonna like it, so I’m going to lie. I’m going to say I just love people.”

After Dimoldenberg got him to admit that he prefers brunettes, Pillsbury joked, “I think some people can be brunette on the inside. I feel a real connection to you in a brunette sort of way.”
