Emily Green and Olive Faber's "capital-R Rock" band announce Star's Revenge II, out Nov. 27

Geese are currently wrapping up the North American leg of their Getting Killed Again Tour, but lead guitarist Emily Green has another surprise up her sleeve. Star’s Revenge — the New York rock band that Green plays in alongside Sunflower Bean’s Olive Faber — have announced a new album, Star’s Revenge II, dropping in just a few weeks on Nov. 27.

You can hear the first single, “Don’t Worry Dynamite,” right now. It’s an instant winner, with a bright, cheerful lead guitar part and a vocal hook you’ll be singing along to in no time. The lyrics have a romantic us-against-the-world feel:  “We could go out and fuck around/Kickin’ trash cans uptown…” That energy builds up to a repeated promise by the end of the song: “We’ll rip apart our hearts ’til we get it right.”

Green and Faber founded Star’s Revenge in 2023 after meeting at a South by Southwest show that both Geese and Sunflower Bean were playing. They went on to release a self-titled debut album the following year, and have played dates around New York on and off since then. While Geese have experienced a huge increase in audience size and attention over the past year, Green has continued writing songs and making music on her own whenever she has free time, including with this band.

In Geese’s recent Rolling Stone cover story, Green said that Star’s Revenge gives her an outlet to play “capital-R Rock music”: “I just plug into an amp and shred for 30 minutes onstage. It’s fun.” She and Faber share songwriting and vocal duties in the band, with indie scene vets Christian Billard and Jonny Ceballos filling out the lineup on drums and bass respectively.

They recorded Star’s Revenge II at Billard’s home studio on Long Island, turning out 11 tracks full of melodic momentum and unbounded feeling. From Dec. 28-31, one month after the album’s release, they’ll play a residency at Hart Bar in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

“Listening to Star’s Revenge is listening to music by people who love music; girls who grew up on classic rock and have spent their lives since ravenously discovering new sounds,” a press release announcing the album reads. “On Star’s Revenge II the band picks up right where the story left off. You are dropped into Star’s dreamlike world and taken on a trip through love, addiction and friendship. It is an intensely loud record for quiet people.”
