The Lagos State Government has arrested two men for allegedly dumping faeces on a road median along the Oshodi axis of the state.
This was disclosed in a statement posted by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, on his X account on Friday.
The statement read, “Abandoned property used for illegal activity sealed by the LAWMA enforcement team. Two men, Sabo Ali, 50, and Ahead Adamu, 30, have been arrested in Oshodi for allegedly dumping faecal waste on a road median using a cart.
“The abandoned property from which they operated has also been sealed by KAI operatives. We will continue to identify and disrupt illegal dumping activities, enforce environmental laws and protect public spaces. Dump responsibly. Use approved waste collection services. Help us achieve a cleaner Lagos.”
Under the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Laws, individuals caught dumping human or solid waste face severe punishments handled through specialised Mobile Courts:

In June 2025, the state government warned that illegal dumping and littering could attract a N250,000 fine or up to three months’ imprisonment.
In February 2026, 17 people convicted of open urination and defecation in Lagos were sentenced to pay N40,000 each or serve one month in prison.
