MRT Blue and Purple lines resume normal service after track fire
BANGKOK — 21 September 2026, MRT Blue and Purple line services resumed normal operations at all stations on the morning, Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM) said.
The announcement followed an electrical short circuit involving a power supply cable along the MRT track between Tao Poon and Bang Pho stations at 12:32 on 20 September.
The incident prompted BEM to temporarily suspend Blue Line services from around noon that day.
No injuries were reported. A preliminary assessment indicated that moisture from rainfall may have contributed to the incident.
BEM said its staff worked through the night to inspect and repair the problem around Tao Poon station and check related systems.
The operator said the checks were carried out to ensure the system was ready and safe before services resumed normally.
