Kaizer Chiefs to sack Da Cruz before Christmas – Report

Translate

Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz is already under fire, and is anybody really surprised? Here’s the latest on his future.

Kaizer Chiefs fall to inferior opposition again

Chiefs went out of the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers in a shootout against Zambian side Red Arrows. They haven’t covered themselves in glory here, but then again, is it a big surprise? Chiefs won the match on the night, but after a defeat in the first leg, this one went all the way to extra time and penalties, and the Glamour Boys were on the wrong side of another painful result.

Chiefs are lagging, and it’s only October

After just eight games of the new Betway Premiership campaign, Kaizer Chiefs are already trailing leaders Sundowns by nine points, and Orlando Pirates by eight. They’ve only triumphed in one of their last seven clashes across all competitions. With just a solitary piece of silverware in the last 10 years (a Nedbank Cup triumph in last year’s final against Pirates), it’s difficult to escape the conclusion that Chiefs are horribly underachieving, given their fanbase and huge financial might. If results don’t improve quickly, it’s easy to envisage a situation where Da Cruz is sacked before Christmas.

Too MANY draws for Amakhosi

Chiefs have drawn five of their last six Betway Premiership outings. Next up is a meeting with Orlando Pirates on 31 October at 15:30. If Chiefs don’t win that, you can expect the pressure to crank up on the manager.

Will Da Cruz keep his job beyond Christmas and the New Year? Add your thoughts by clicking the red comments banner below!
