Bafana Bafana back home from Egypt

Translate

Bafana Bafana are back in the country following the end of the first FIFA international break of the season.

Pitso Mosimane’s men enjoyed a fruitful international break as they won all their three matches.

They first beat Guinea 2-1 in their opening qualifying match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Bafana Bafana then visited Eritrea in Egypt, and they hammered them 5-0 to cement their top spot on the Group D log.

The South Africans would face Egypt in a friendly at Cairo International Stadium, and they registered a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Their success has seen them move up to 48 on the FIFA rankings; the team’s highest position in 15 years.

Now, the players will return to their respective clubs, and with the MTN8 final on the horizon, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates stars will have no time to rest.

The two clubs dominated Mosimane’s Bafana Bafana squad, and they will be on their way to Durban for the final.

The MTN8 final will be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 10 October in what will be the 11th time the venue hosts the competition’s final.
