LUMAGICA light festival returns to Tel Aviv's Hayarkon Park after 160,000 visitors in first edition

Translate

Following an initial season that drew an estimated 160,000 visitors, the international light exhibition LUMAGICA is scheduled to return to Hayarkon Park (Ganei Yehoshua) starting November 12.

The upcoming iteration features an updated thematic concept developed specifically for the local venue by global design teams and local artists.

Produced by MK Illumination, the installation utilizes approximately three million LED lights, kinetic sculptures, and interactive elements.

Logistics began nearly a year in advance, involving production across four facilities in six countries and the maritime transport of 15 tons of equipment. The scale of the prior event earned the Tel Aviv location a placement within the organization’s top 10 European parks last year.

The global production framework required simultaneous coordination across multiple manufacturing sites, using 12 shipping containers and specialized gear air-freighted directly to Israel to meet the complex infrastructure demands.

Key features at LUMAGICA Tel Aviv

Key features of the upcoming layout include a field of roughly 30,000 illuminated artificial tulips. The centerpiece consists of a 30-meter-wide water screen displaying video art, accompanied by an original musical score composed by artist Misha Anton.

The venue will also accommodate a European-style winter fair, incorporating two dining spaces, food stalls, and a carnival games sector.

Designers have structured the layout to prioritize the active visitor experience, aiming to move attendance away from passive observation. Visitors are invited to physically step inside the light environments, becoming an integrated component of the illuminated installations, flower fields, and technological displays.

According to the production team, the objective is to leverage color, movement, and sound to immerse the public directly into the nocturnal journey.

Standard admission tickets cost NIS 109. The exhibition will operate from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays.
