Man nabbed for posing as NBI agent yields P350K in meth in Sultan Kudarat

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Police arrested a 45-year-old man allegedly posing as an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The suspect reportedly evaded a checkpoint and threatened pursuing police officers in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on Friday night, Oct. 9.
Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog, Police Regional Office 12 director, said the suspect was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck when he sped past a police checkpoint despite being flagged down for inspection.

The incident happened along the national highway in Barangay Dansuli shortly after 10 p.m.

During the ensuing chase, the suspect allegedly lowered his vehicle’s window, shouted that he was an NBI agent, and threatened to shoot the police officers pursuing him.
“When cornered, the suspect yielded P350,000 worth of shabu and a pistol,” Manibog said.
The man is being held at the Isulan municipal police station while authorities prepare charges against him.
Manibog said police later established that the suspect was not an NBI agent. /apl
