“This declining trend has been consistently observed amid the prevailing El Niño conditions, characterized by reduced rainfall and increased evaporation across the basin,” the LLDA said.
The agency has set 10.50 meters as the lake’s critical-low level and 12.50 meters as its critical-high threshold.
The lake last exceeded the critical-high threshold on Oct. 2, when its water level reached 12.52 meters. It dropped to 12.41 meters on Oct. 8 and has continued to decline since then, reaching 11.84 meters on Nov. 5.
