Thailand beat South Korea to win Asian Games volleyball bronze
KOMAKI, Japan — 22 September 2026 — Thailand’s women’s volleyball team bounced back from their semifinal defeat to beat South Korea 3-0 and claim the bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan on Tuesday.
The bronze-medal match was held at Park Arena Komaki, with Thailand, ranked 13th in the world, taking on South Korea, ranked 28th.
Thailand had lost 2-3 to China in the semifinals, while South Korea were beaten 0-3 by hosts Japan.
Head coach Kiattipong “Coach Ott” Radchatagriengkrai fielded his strongest lineup, led by captain Pornpun Guedpard, Thatdao Nuekjang, Sasipaporn Janthawisut, Pimpichaya Kokram, Chatchu-on Moksri and Kaewkalaya Kamulthala, with Kalyarat Khamwong as libero.
Thailand controlled the match and won in straight sets, 25-20, 25-19 and 25-23.
The victory gave Thailand its third Asian Games bronze medal in women’s volleyball.
Under the National Sports Development Fund’s prize scheme for Thai athletes at the 2026 Asian Games, a gold medal carries a prize of 2 million baht, silver 1 million baht and bronze 500,000 baht.
