KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has expressed deep concern over the health and education of children following the haze affecting the country.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek said that during a meeting with Her Majesty today, the Queen also voiced concern over the impact of prolonged school closures on children’s emotional well-being and mental health.

“Her Majesty stressed the importance of prioritising children’s health while ensuring continuity in their education, particularly for children from B40 families who may face difficulties due to school closures,” she said in a Facebook post tonight.

Fadhlina said the Queen’s views and advice would serve as guidance in ensuring that every decision on school operations took into account children’s health and educational future comprehensively.
