Ogun PDP raises alarm over Adebutu’s omission

Translate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has expressed concern over the omission of its 2027 governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, from the list published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), alleging political pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Arc. Kayode Adebayo, the party assured members and supporters that Adebutu’s name would be published by INEC, expressing confidence that he would participate in the 2027 governorship election.

The PDP maintained that Adebutu remained a member of the party and had completed his digital membership registration within the stipulated period.

According to the statement, his membership card was printed, verified and submitted to INEC within the prescribed timeframe.

The party alleged that the omission resulted from pressure allegedly mounted on the electoral commission by the APC, which it accused of seeking political advantage ahead of the election.

However, the PDP did not provide evidence in the statement to substantiate the allegation.

The party urged its supporters and residents of Ogun State to remain calm, insisting that the omission would not derail its preparations for the election.

It also called on party members to remain steadfast and focused on its campaign, expressing confidence in Adebutu and the party’s prospects.

The PDP further urged INEC to publish Adebutu’s name, reiterating its commitment to what it described as efforts to bring relief and positive change to the people of Ogun State.

INEC’s position on the omission and the allegations against the APC was not contained in the statement.
