KDF, GardaWorld signs MoU on military dog training and welfare

NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 30 – The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has partnered with private security firm GardaWorld to strengthen the training and operational capabilities of military working dogs.

The cooperation was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by KDF’s Central Command (CENTCOM) and GardaWorld Security Africa.

The agreement seeks to enhance specialised canine capabilities through joint training, knowledge exchange and sustainable breeding programmes.

The signing ceremony was presided over by Central Command General Officer Commanding Major General William Kamoiro and attended by GardaWorld Security Africa Country Director in Kenya Rishi Ahluwalia, alongside senior military officers and company representatives.

Kamoiro said military working dogs play a critical role in detection, patrol and security operations, describing them as force multipliers in military operations.

He said the partnership would improve handlers’ proficiency, canine performance and overall operational readiness.

Ahluwalia reaffirmed GardaWorld’s commitment to the agreement, emphasising the importance of developing specialised canine capabilities while upholding professional standards and animal welfare.
