The Batangas Port has so far recorded 12,000 passengers as travelers head to their respective provinces to observe All Saints’ Day (Undas) and All Souls’ Day.

Batangas Port manager Aurora Mendoza said the data was recorded on October 30, which is lower than the 12,000 passengers recorded in the same period in 2025.

She explained that there were fewer passengers due to the fare hike.

“Ang nakikita natin ay ang bahagyang pagtaas ng presyo ng pamasahe,” Mendoza told Super Radyo dzBB.

(We observed that there are fewer passengers because of the fare hikes.)

“Last year, mababa na talaga [ang bilang ng mga pasahero]. Pababa na ang bilang natin. 'Yung bukas, baka ordinaryong araw na come and go ang mga pasahero,” she added.

(Last year, the number of passengers was already low. We have been seeing a downward trend. Tomorrow might just be like an ordinary day, with passengers coming and going.)

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported 60,411 outbound passengers and 54,291 inbound passengers across all ports nationwide on Saturday morning.

For Undas 2026, the PCG said a total of 6,221 frontline personnel from 17 PCG Districts have been deployed, conducting inspections on 540 vessels and 806 motorized outriggers. —RF, GMA News
