Jakarta Governor highlights 5.52 pct growth at U20 forum in New York

Jakarta is ready to open investment opportunities through 37 urban development projects with a potential investment value of US$7 billion.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo outlined the city's economic performance in the second quarter of 2026 to global city leaders attending the U20 Mayoral Plenary at Civic Hall in New York, United States.
On the occasion, Pramono highlighted Jakarta's ability to maintain robust economic growth despite various global economic challenges.
"Amid the world's various economic challenges, Jakarta continues to record strong economic growth. In the second quarter of this year, our economy grew by 5.52 percent, while inflation remained low at 2.5 percent. This stability has driven investment inflows of US$10.5 billion into Jakarta in just six months," he said in a statement on Sunday.
He also used the U20 forum to promote investment opportunities and strengthen cooperation with various city leaders and global partners.
"Jakarta is ready to open investment opportunities through 37 urban development projects with a potential investment value of US$7 billion. We invite city partners, the business community, and global partners not only to invest in Jakarta but also to work together to build our city's future," Pramono said.
During the U20 Plenary Session, mayors and governors from cities around the world attended an opening address delivered by New York Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani.
In his remarks, Zohran expressed appreciation for the city leaders' attendance at the U20 forum and outlined the three main themes of Urban 20 2026: affordable housing and homelessness; climate action, sustainability, and urban resilience; and the protection of immigrant communities and human mobility.
The Urban 20 (U20) Mayoral Summit is taking place from September 19 to 21, 2026, in New York, United States.
The forum is expected to culminate in a consensus document and joint policy recommendations from city leaders on sustainable urban development.
