Blistering Head ton leads Australia to victory in second ODI in Zimbabwe

Travis Head has scored his first century since last summer's Ashes, with the punchy southpaw's eighth ODI ton leading Australia to an 84-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Harare.

Head and captain Mitch Marsh shared a 130-run opening stand after being sent in by Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza, with Head eventually falling for a 84-ball 112 and Marsh a 53-ball 63.

Batting at No.3, 23-year-old Cooper Connolly (78 off 69) was the only other Australian to pass 50, with the tourists going on to post a total of 6-356.

In reply, Zimbabwe escaped the powerplay unscathed, but were two down by the 16th over, with part-timer Matt Renshaw prising the wickets of openers Brian Bennett (23) and Ben Curran (30) with his finger spin.

Josh Hazlewood, Connolly and Adam Zampa also picked up two scalps each as Zimbabwe was bowled out for 272 and Australia took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three match series.

A cause for concern for the Aussies was an injury to fast bowler Billy Stanlake, who pulled up lame during his fourth over and wasn't sighted after.
