Milan are closing in on the appointment of Markus Krösche as their new Head of Football, with talks now at an advanced stage.
According to Corriere della Sera, via TuttoMercatoWeb, there is strong optimism at Milan that a deal can be completed quickly. Gerry Cardinale is keen to have the German in place as soon as possible.
Krösche left his role as Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting director at his own request last weekend, but remains under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2028. Milan will therefore have to pay compensation, with reports in Germany pointing to a release clause of between €5m and €7m.

Milan want Krösche in place for January
The need for a new figure at the top of the club has grown after Thursday’s 3-0 Europa League defeat at Bournemouth, which exposed the lack of depth in Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Calciomercato.com reported on Friday that Milan held a fresh meeting with the 46-year-old as they look to hand him control of the January transfer window. However, MilanNews reports that Krösche would like a short break before taking on a new role.

This is Milan’s second attempt to land him. Cardinale reached a verbal agreement with Krösche in the summer, only for Eintracht to block the move.
During his time at Frankfurt, he won the Europa League in 2022 and built a reputation for selling players at a big profit.
