Mandla Ncikazi’s trophy cabinet with Orlando Pirates

Translate

Orlando Pirates have officially announced the departure of Abdeslam Ouaddou‘s assistant Mandla Ncikazi.

Ncikazi had been linked with a possible exit following his absence from the bench for a number of games now.

Ouaddou had attributed Ncikazi’s absence to a surgery that the coach recently had, but the writing was always on the wall.

Subsequent to that, reports surfaced that Golden Arrows were interested in taking Ncikazi back following a series of poor results under the tutelage of Pitso Dladla.

Dladla, though, has maintained that he is still in charge of Arrows and that he still has backing of the management.

Now, Ncikazi, who held different coaching positions, including that of a co-coach alongside Fadlu Davids in 2021, will be take up a coaching role at an unnamed PSL club.

During his stint as co-coach, Ncikazi won the CAF Confederation Cup silver medal with Pirates after losing to RS Berkane in the final.

He recently also got a silver medal with Pirates as they lost 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final.

However, Ncikazi leaves with EIGHT major trophies under two different coaches.

His first major trophy was the 2022 MTN8 under the leadership of Jose Riveiro, and it was followed by the 2023 Nedbank Cup.

Overall, Ncikazi won FIVE trophies in three seasons with Riveiro and won THREE, including last season’s league title.
