‘Twilight Of The Dead’: Filming Wraps On “Final Chapter” Of George A. Romero’s Zombie Saga, Kate Beckinsale & Betty Gabriel Star

Translate

EXCLUSIVE: Filming has wrapped on Twilight of the Dead, the long gestating “final chapter” of George A. Romero’s classic zombie saga.

Underworld star Kate Beckinsale stars alongside genre regular Betty Gabriel (Get Out), newcomer Abigail London and John D. Hickman (Becky).

Filming took place in Kentucky and wrapped last month. Greg Nicotero, the legendary Walking Dead make-up effects supervisor and director who also worked with Romero on Day Of The Dead, handled all the special effects.

The horror project, which has buy-in from the Romero estate, is “set on a decimated earth where the last vestiges of humanity are trapped between warring factions and an evolving undead threat”.

The Paz Brothers, Doron and Yoav Paz, whose movies include The Golem and Plan A, directed. Stunts vet Ho Sung Pak (Bullet Train) directed stunt and action sequences.

As we revelead, Bob Yari’s Magenta Light Studios has North American rights and is due to distribute the film in theaters across the U.S. and Canada. The Syndicate handles international sales.

Horror icon Romero had written a treatment for the movie before he passed in 2017 and regarded Twilight Of The Dead as the conclusion to his epic saga, which comprised six movies and various spinoffs and remakes. The last movie in the franchise came out in 2009. Twilight Of The Dead was first revealed in 2021. The producers previously told us they haven’t closed the door on the possibility of additional movies in a new franchise should this new one go well.

The film, whose cast and creative makeup has evolved in recent years, is driven by the Roundtable Entertainment team, led by producers John Baldecchi and Sarah Donnelly with executive producer and Roundtable President, Dominic Ianno, and in partnership with Suzanne Romero. Paolo Zelati is producer, screenwriter and author of the treatment together with Romero. Producers also include Bob Yari, Shaun Sanghani of SSS Entertainment and Aanaxion’s Kenneth Kim, Ho Sung Pak and George Furla.
