Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested five suspected armed robbers allegedly terrorising Ujode Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Sunday.

Edafe said, “On October 16, 2026, operatives of CP-SAT, acting on credible intelligence concerning the activities of a suspected armed robbery syndicate terrorising Ujode Community in Ughelli North LGA, raided the area and arrested one Thankgod Ejakpomewhe, aged 29 years.”

According to the police spokesman, one locally made long gun and one live cartridge were recovered from the suspect, while other members of the suspected syndicate fled.

The PPRO stated that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In another development, on October 15, 2026, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ubuluku, in Ika South Local Government Area of the state, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected criminal hideout in Alisimen Community and arrested four suspects.

The suspects were identified as Okwunzuwa Rubben, 28; John Onyeka, 42; Uzoma Ifeyinwa, 20; and Osas Atoe, 22.

Edafe said, “The operation led to the recovery of one firearm reported as a double-barrelled pump-action gun, one laptop, six mobile phones, a camouflage cap and jacket.”

The police stated that a further search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of five rounds of live cartridges.

Investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, commended the operatives for their diligence and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and preventing the unlawful circulation of firearms.

He warned criminal elements to “desist from their activities or face decisive action within the ambit of the law”, while urging residents to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information.
