Orlando Pirates have ‘Dani Alves’ to win it all

Kamogelo Sebelebele has become a key weapon for Betway Premiership and MTN8 champions Orlando {Pirates. He will be key against Sundowns.

Mike Mamosha Sebelebele has a bit of Dani Alves about him

Pirates defender Kamogelo Sebelebele has an incredible engine, a killer final ball and an eye for goal. No wonder people are raving about him and claiming that the 24-year-old is the finest right-back in South Africa. Football has changed to an extent that defenders can no longer simply defend, they have to offer something in the final third. Sebelebele does that, and more. Since joining from TS Galaxy in 2025, he has developed into one of the most dynamic operators in the Betway Premiership.

Marauding defender holds the key for Orlando Pirates

If he has a good game against Sundowns in the MTN8 final, Pirates have every chance of scooping an unprecedented fifth crown on the bounce. Sebelebele got himself on the score sheet in both legs of last season’s semi-final against the same opposition. Don’t bet against him having a big say again in Durban on Saturday.

A date with destiny

90 minutes, or perhaps more, separates Pirates from an unprecedented fifth consecutive MTN8 crown. Sundowns stand in their way, but Buccaneers supporters sound confident, with Thalente Mbatha reportedly ready for minutes. The 26-year-old midfield dynamo has been in full training and could feature for the defending champions at Moses Mabhida. Mbatha has been absent with a knee injury for just shy of two months. Supporters in comment sections across social media are delighted to see him back on the grass and sound confident he can get the better of Sundowns counterpart Marcelo Allende. Pirates vs Sundowns on 10 October at Moses Mabhida kicks off at 18:00.
