The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah; Minister of Works, David Umahi; and Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, are among prominent dignitaries expected at the grand finale of the 2026 Press Week organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Enugu Correspondents’ Chapel.
The grand finale, scheduled for October 22, 2026, at the NUJ Press Centre, will also feature discussions cantered on responsible journalism, democratic development, and the role of the media in the anti-corruption drive.
In a statement on Tuesday, jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Press Week Organising Committee, Emma Ugwueze and Damian Duruiheoma, respectively, the chapel revealed that Mbah would serve as the Chief Guest of Honour, while a former Enugu State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Anthony Ani (SAN), will chair the occasion.
Umahi is slated to deliver the guest lecture titled, ‘Strengthening Democracy Through Responsible Journalism: 2027 Polls in Focus,’ while Olukoyede will deliver the keynote address on ‘The Role of the Media and Other Critical Stakeholders in Sustaining the Fight Against Corruption.’
Highlighting the choice of key speakers, the organising committee noted that Umahi and Olukoyede were selected in recognition of their contributions to public service, particularly in road infrastructure revitalisation and anti-graft reforms.

The grand finale will climax a series of activities marking the 2026 Press Week, which kicked off on October 18 with a thanksgiving service at the Christian Victory Prayer Ministry in Enugu.
The organising committee expressed optimism that the grand finale would foster meaningful conversations on democratic accountability and ethical journalism ahead of the 2027 general elections.
