The former ESPN reporter was appointed as a press adviser last month.

Former ESPN reporter Britt McHenry resigned Friday from her position as a State Department press adviser following an altercation at a basketball game this week, ABC News has learned.

McHenry was captured on camera appearing to throw a drink on someone during a Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks NBA game on Wednesday.

Video obtained by TMZ appears to show McHenry being escorted from the stands at Capital One Arena following the incident.

McHenry was appointed to her role at the State Department last month. A Department official declined to comment on McHenry’s exit, saying it was an internal personnel matter.

ABC News was not immediately able to contact McHenry.

McHenry formerly worked as a reporter for ESPN. In 2015, she was suspended by the network for one week after a video showing her berating a clerk at a towing company went viral.

Her departure from the State Department was first reported by Page Six.
