Inside Vasti and Dricus du Plessis’s wedding of the year [photos]

Dricus du Plessis and his bride, Vasti, threw the wedding of the year over the weekend at the celebration attended by friends and family.

The five-star affair took place in Franschhoek on Saturday, 10 October.

The MMA fighter and his boxer trainer partner met in 2023 and got engaged last year.

When and where did it take place?

The wedding took place on Saturday, 10 October at the La Paris Estate in Franschhoek.

The couple hosted a wedding weekend, with a pub dinner the night before featuring lots of karaoke and dancing.

What did they wear?

Vasti wore a custom Anel Botha creation during the ceremony, while Dricus du Plessis wore a crisp black tuxedo.

The blonde bride changed into an Amara Bespoke gown adorned with sequins and pearls, and wore a white feather boa for the reception, while her husband donned a cream suit to match her.

What was the theme?

According to the wedding cake service provider, the theme was “dramatic”, with guests dressed in shades of precious gems, from gold and bronze to ruby red and emerald green.

The wedding altar featured a giant white cross and dozens of white flowers, while the reception venue was decked out in dark red drapery, floral arrangements, and lots of chandeliers.

Who were some of the guests?

Guests included family and close friends, including celebs like former Springbok Victor Matfield, singers Bobby and Karlien van Jaarsveld, and Rickus Nel.

What was on the menu?

Guests dined on steak, chicken, salads and snacked on fresh oysters and mussels.

They also enjoyed a tiramisu tower and gelato ice cream.

At the reception, Vasti and Dricus du Plessis cut their white table-length cake, adorned with strawberries, raspberries, and macaroons.

What happened at the reception?

Apart from the formalities, guests enjoyed a special choreographed dance by Vasti and her bridal party.

Vasti and Dricus’s first dance was to Lady Gaga’s Always Remember Us This Way.

There was also a photo booth, a wedding DJ, and lots of fun and games.
