NBC L.A. TV News Chopper Crashes, Three Dead
Los Angeles Fire Department has confirmed that a helicopter was downed in Chatsworth, leaving at least three people dead.
The crash was reported around 7 p.m. (local time), and LAFD confirmed the aircraft went down between two commercial buildings.
“56 firefighters responded to the incident. The fire has been completely extinguished. No exposure to any structures. 4 automobiles and 2 storage containers have been damaged by the fire,” the LAFD reported.
Authorities noted that four patients were assessed, and three of them were “determined deceased on scene.”
“One patient has been transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. NTSB and FAA will be handling the investigation,” read the report.
According to LAFD, one of the people who died was a pedestrian on the ground. It’s undetermined right now where the other two deceased individuals were at the time of the incident.
KNBC noted that several TV news helicopters were in the area covering a crash involving a Metro bus at the time.
As of now, it’s undetermined what local news station the helicopter belonged to.
