Translate

The bomb squad has been called to a northern Victorian property after a man allegedly fired a gun at a vehicle.

Victoria Police said investigators were told a man fired a gun towards a vehicle in Numurkah, two-and-a-half hours' drive north of Melbourne, on Thursday.

Detectives searched the property on Saturday and found a "suspicious device".

The Bomb Response Unit was called in and made the device safe.

A 66-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with reckless conduct endangering serious injury and possessing and making an explosive substance.

He was also charged with possessing Victoria Police equipment without authority, cultivating and possessing cannabis, and possessing a prohibited weapon without exemption.

The man was remanded to appear at the Shepparton Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
