The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged thuggery and public disturbance in separate incidents in the state.

The command said the arrests followed a sustained crackdown on Sara-Suka thuggery and other violent crimes across the state.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, a group of Sara-Suka youths stormed the Wayan Makafi and Unguwan Kur areas of Bauchi on October 11, 2026, at about 9.15 pm, causing panic among residents.

Habib said, “Upon receipt of the report, a patrol team attached to ‘D’ Division, Dutsen Tanshi, in collaboration with members of the Yan Committee, promptly mobilised to the affected areas. Consequently, the miscreants were successfully dispersed, and further breakdown of law and order was averted.”

He disclosed that a member of the Yan Committee sustained injuries while helping to restore order and protect his community.

“He is currently receiving medical attention and is in stable condition. Meanwhile, one suspect was arrested at the scene while others fled, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” the statement added.

In a related development, the command arrested a 25-year-old suspected Sara-Suka kingpin, Abubakar Adamu Aliyu, popularly known as Zadous, for allegedly attempting to attack a Peace Corps personnel in the Kofar Dumi area of Bauchi.

Habib said the police received information at about 6.30 pm on October 11 that suspected thugs armed with dangerous weapons had stormed the residence of the Peace Corps personnel with the intention of attacking him.

He stated, “Acting swiftly on the credible information, police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division, Township, rushed to the scene and arrested one Abubakar Adamu Aliyu, alias Zadous, a 25-year-old male, a notorious Sara-Suka kingpin.”

According to the statement, the suspect had previously been charged to court by the same division over alleged thuggery and regained his freedom the previous week.

The command alleged that the suspect was on a revenge mission against the Peace Corps personnel, who had reported his activities to the police about seven months earlier.

“The suspect is currently in custody while the investigation is ongoing. He will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation,” Habib said.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the operatives for their swift response and praised their collaboration with quasi-security outfits.

He warned that the command would not tolerate thuggery, public disturbance or Sara-Suka activities in any form.

The statement quoted the commissioner as saying that the command would sustain patrols, surveillance and intelligence-led operations to maintain peace across the state.

He also urged parents, guardians and community leaders to caution their wards against criminal activities and continue to collaborate with the police by providing timely and credible information.
