Coronation Street's Ross manipulates Gary amid dangerous new alliance

Translate

Coronation Street's latest episode sees Ross Wilkes manipulate Gary Windass as the two form an uneasy alliance. Gary is currently serving an eight-month prison sentence for his involvement in covering up Theo Silverton's murder.

As expected, things haven't been going well for him behind bars, as he has been dealing with numerous physical fights, including with his cellmate.

Outside, wife Maria has been struggling with Gary's incarceration, so Ross has been keeping a special eye on him while working as a prison guard, and tonight's (29 October) episode shows him attempting to bond with Gary.

New cellmate Marco has joined Gary, who encouraged him to keep his head down in an attempt to calm him down.

While in the rec room, Ross approached Gary to tell him of Tyrone's altercation with Chesney, which led Gary to remark that didn't sound like Tyrone.

However, Ross instead urged Gary to have a chat with Maria to not only ask her to speak to Fiz, but to remind her how much he is doing by watching over him.

It seemingly worked as, while at the salon, Fiz expressed her concern to Maria that Ross is a bad influence on Tyrone, especially following the altercation with Chesney.

However, Maria told Fiz that she had nothing to worry about as Gary had nothing but praise for Ross, but Fiz wasn't so sure, adding that she is still keeping an eye on him.

This approval quelled the fire for now, and Ross thanked Gary for doing him this favour.

But in what appeared to be a veiled threat, he made Gary promise that he wouldn't let him down while he is in jail.

Unbeknownst to Gary, Ross had previously cornered new cellmate Marco and warned him to toughen up, or else he'd appear "weak", hurling more insults at him later on in an attempt to push him further.

What is Ross up to? And how long before his and Gary's alliance turns ugly?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
