Scott McTominay is on the verge of a return for Napoli after completing his recovery from a heart procedure.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Scotland international will go through his final medical checks today and tomorrow to regain his certificate of fitness for competitive sport, which every player in Italy needs. It is expected to be a formality.

McTominay underwent an ablation in Manchester on September 8 to correct a mild, benign arrhythmia. He then rested for two weeks before gradually resuming activity.

McTominay targets Napoli return for Frosinone clash

He completed the first phase of his recovery in England and has been back at Castel Volturno for around ten days, following a personalised programme of gym work and individual sessions on the pitch. He has not yet trained with his teammates, because that could only happen once he was cleared.

Massimiliano Allegri hopes to have him available for Saturday’s Serie A meeting with Frosinone at the Maradona, which kicks off at 20:45. Once the tests are complete, McTominay will rejoin group training and Allegri will assess his sharpness over the coming days.
