Two minor phreatic eruptions at the main crater of Taal Volcano were recorded on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The minor eruptions occurred at 07:31 p.m. and 07:36 p.m. on Sunday.

"The event generated a plume that rose 300 meters above the crater as recorded by the Main Crater West Rim (VTWR) and Daang Kastila (VTDK) thermal cameras," said PHIVOLCS.

The agency added that Alert Level 1 is maintained over Taal Volcano. — BAP, GMA News
