Pastor Kanyari Confronts Workers Over Alleged Fuel Siphoning From Charity Bus

Translate

Pastor Victor Kanyari has confronted his workers after allegedly discovering that fuel was being siphoned from his charity bus, questioning why an employee earning KSh30,000 a month would risk their job over the practice.

In a video circulating online, the preacher is seen approaching the vehicle as several people gather around its open fuel tank. A pipe appears to connect the tank to a yellow jerrican placed beside the bus.

Kanyari appeared frustrated as he questioned what had happened to the fuel he regularly purchased for the vehicle, which is used to support members of the community.

“This is my bus whose fuel is being siphoned, and it’s a bus that offers charity,” he said.

The preacher explained that he began suspecting something was wrong after noticing that the bus ran out of fuel unusually quickly following refills.

“I keep wondering why whenever I put fuel in, it ends so fast,” he remarked.

According to a report on the incident, Kanyari accused one of his drivers of involvement in the alleged siphoning, claiming that the fuel was being sold to other people.

However, the video does not independently establish who was responsible, and it remains unclear whether any formal action has been taken.

Kanyari Questions Driver Earning KSh30,000

During the confrontation, Kanyari questioned why an employee earning a monthly salary would allegedly engage in the practice, expressing frustration over what he viewed as unnecessary misconduct.

“Mshahara ya 30,000 ni njaa gani unaskia? Si ako kazi? Zingine ni tamaa,” he said.

The preacher suggested that greed could be behind the alleged theft, questioning why someone with a job would risk their employment over fuel intended to keep the charity vehicle operational.

Kanyari further explained that the bus had been made available to support community activities, including transporting people for football-related engagements, but the alleged fuel loss threatened its ability to serve those in need.

“This bus here we have given people to play football with it. Then I’m told later there is no fuel to help others,” he added.

Kanyari’s Charity Transport Initiative

The confrontation has drawn attention to the purpose of the bus, which Kanyari says is part of his community outreach efforts.

In July 2026, the preacher announced a fleet of vehicles under his foundation to provide free transport for Kasarani residents facing emergencies, including illness and funerals.

At the time, he said beneficiaries would not be required to pay for transport or fuel, presenting the initiative as a way of helping residents who could not afford such services.

The programme formed part of his community engagement efforts as he pursued political ambitions in Kasarani ahead of the 2027 General Election.

During the latest confrontation, Kanyari said he had forgiven those he believed had purchased the fuel, suggesting they might not have known the circumstances under which it had been obtained.

He, however, expressed a different attitude towards the driver he accused of involvement in the alleged siphoning.
