Northern Mindanao cops bust 2 drug suspects, seize P1.8-M shabu

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Anti-narcotics operatives seized over P1.8 million worth of suspected shabu, and arrested two alleged drug peddlers during back-to-back buy-bust operations in Bukidnon and this city before dawn on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10) reported that the separate stings yielded a combined total of roughly 270.13 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated standard drug price of P1,836,884.
The first sting was launched around 12:47 a.m. at Purok 6, Central Poblacion in Kalilangan, Bukidnon. Joint operatives from the Kalilangan municipal police station, municipal drug enforcement unit, Bukidnon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, 1004th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 10, and the Bukidnon Provincial Intelligence Unit collared a 29-year-old high-value target known as “Berto.”

Investigators said “Berto,” a resident of Damulog, Bukidnon, allegedly ran drug peddling transactions in Kalilangan and neighboring towns. Confiscated from him were four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing about 70.13 grams of suspected shabu valued at P476,884, along with the buy-bust money, a mobile phone, a motorcycle, a helmet, and a backpack.
Barely an hour later, at around 1:55 a.m., lawmen struck along Dongallo Sr. Street in Barangay Camaman-an, this city.
The joint team — composed of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 10, Regional Intelligence Division, City Mobile Force Company, Cagayan de Oro City Police Station 2,
Regional Intelligence Unit 10, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Group Special Operations Unit 10 — arrested a 25-year-old unemployed local resident known as “Plong-plong”

Police noted that “Plong-plong” is a three-time offender previously arrested in 2021 and in a subsequent incident for the same drug offenses. Seized from his possession were nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets holding roughly 200 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,360,000, a brown paper bag, a black coin purse, and the marked money.
All seized drug items were turned over to police forensic units for qualitative and quantitative examinations.

Both suspects face charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (RA 9165).
“Berto” is detained at the Kalilangan Municipal Police Station custodial facility, while “Plong” remains held at the Maharlika Custodial Facility of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office.
Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay Jr., PRO-10 director, reaffirmed the regional command’s drive against illegal narcotics through intelligence-driven coordination.
