Fresh legal battles may be brewing over political party primaries ahead of the 2027 elections following the Supreme Court’s restoration of provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 governing party membership registers and candidate nominations.

Meanwhile, Nollywood has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest audience gathering for a movie screening after more than 51,000 Nigerians gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos to watch the crime thriller, Black Market.

Elsewhere, the media aide to Ogun State APC governorship candidate, Solomon Adeola, has explained that his principal changed his name from Sulaimon Ogunleye to Solomon Adeola after converting from Islam to Christianity, while a Kwara cleric said threats by bandits forced him and his family into hiding.

The Lagos State Police Command has also arrested six suspected members of a syndicate allegedly involved in diverting imported goods worth more than N20bn over 19 years.

Nollywood has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest audience gathering for a movie screening after more than 51,000 Nigerians gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos to watch the crime thriller, Black Market.

The feat was confirmed on the screen at the event on Saturday night.

The Media Adviser to the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola, has explained that the candidate changed his name from Sulaimon Ogunleye to Solomon Adeola after converting from Islam to Christianity.

4. Bandits forced me into hiding – Rev Omolehin

The founder of Word Assembly Ministries, Ilorin, Rev Isaac Omolehin, has raised the alarm over a threat by bandits to attack his church camp at Idofian village in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The cleric said the threat forced him and his family to go into hiding for safety.

5. Police bust Lagos syndicate over N20bn goods diversion

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspected members of a syndicate allegedly involved in the diversion of imported goods worth more than N20bn over the past 19 years.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit following complaints from importers over missing consignments.
