A slight increase was monitored in the water levels of five out of nine dams in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in an advisory on Sunday.

It identified these as La Mesa, Ambuklao, Binga, Pantabangan and Caliraya. The biggest increase was noted in Binga Dam in Benguet (0.40 meters), followed by Caliraya Dam in Laguna (0.30 m), Ambuklao in Benguet (0.28 m), Pantabagan in Nueva Ecija (0.07 m), and La Mesa in Quezon City (0.03 m).

On the other hand, the four other dams reported a slight decrease in water levels: Magat Dam in Cagayan (-0.23 m), San Roque Dam in Pangasinan (-0.18 m), Angat Dam in Bulacan (-0.11 m), and Ipo Dam in Bulacan (-0.01 m). All dams kept gates closed in the past 24 hours. —DIANNE RAINE U. SAMPANG
