WATCH: BINI Mikha stars in Inigo Pascual’s music video for new single

Inigo Pascual unveiled his new single, “Pagdating ng Panahon,” with BINI Mikha Lim featuring in the music video that was partly directed by his dad, Piolo Pascual.

The singer-songwriter-actor turned 29 last September 14, and said his new single was sort of his birthday gift, following the success of his last single, “Ikaw at Ikaw,” released only last May. Inigo said “Pagdating ng Panahon” is a continuation of his thoughts with a storyline about two friends in the cusp of falling in love but had to deal with the prospect of a long separation.

“For this song, it’s kind of connected to ‘Ikaw at Ikaw,’ the idea that kahit saan ako magpunta, ikaw pa rin ang uuwian ko…. That when I or you come back, I want you to realize that it was always you and me that are meant for each other. Even if time happed, and so much has happened in our life, ikaw at ikaw pa rin pagdating ng panahon,” he said during a media launch of his new single.

Inigo said he approached Mikha to be part of the music video for his new single, and the BINI member did not hesitate to say yes despite their busy schedule. He said they were able to shoot their scenes before the P-pop group went on tour.

“Honestly, sobrang tropa ni Mikha, she’s just like one of the boys. One of the kindest, most genuine people that you’s ever meet, and we have the same circle of friends. The moment I asked her, like can you do this music video with me, [she asked] no questions. She was just game,” he said. “Super busy niya, sobrang busy ng BINI, kaya sobrang grateful at masaya ako. Just goes to show how kind, how caring she is as a friend.”

Supportive dad

As for the music video, Inigo said it was his dad Piolo Pascual’s idea to direct the music video while the two of them were on tour in Australia.

Inigo said he showed Piolo the music video for “Ikaw at Ikaw,” which had not been released yet at the time. The celebrity dad then got the inspiration to shoot the MV for “Pagdating ng Panahon” right there, and do it guerrilla style.

“He was so pumped so he said, ‘Why don’t you shoot some of your scenes for your next song you’re gonna be putting out?’ So my dad was literally the director, the LM (location manager), the PM (production manager), sya lahat… It made me very, very happy. That’s the first time my dad has ever done something like that for me, in terms of being a supporting dad,” Inigo said.

Piolo was so inspired that they would shoot in public places, telling him to just do his thing and not mind the onlookers. “I was shy towards the Australians watching…[He would say] O tara pumunta tayo sa tourist spot na ito, o dyan ka maglakad ka, kakanta ka. So nakakahiya yon, pero sige, bahala na kung ano mang yari,” said Inigo.

Overall, Inigo said he enjoyed the whole experience especially that he got to see his dad in his element, while their production output became the basis of his music video.

Hands-on

Compared to “Ikaw at Ikaw,” Inigo felt more comfortable when he wrote “Pagdating ng Panahon” as it resonated with his authentic self and musical preference. He said that he was very hands-on with his new single, from the lyrics, to the conceptualization and giving his input in the music video.

“It feels different all at once. I feel like this was me going back to an older version of me a couple of years back… It feels like I’m having more of a grasp of what I truly was before when I did ‘Dahil Sa’yo.’ My type of music and sound that I really want to stick to. I feel like I was experimenting so much with so many different genres,” he explained.
