PHILADELPHIA -- Sixers forward Jaylen Brown will be out of Friday's NBA Cup game against the New York Knicks with a left knee patella injury, the team announced.

The team reported that Brown had left knee soreness after Wednesday's win over the Pacers and then listed him as questionable for tonight's game, before downgrading him to doubtful.

With Brown out, coach Nick Nurse said that the Sixers would start forward Dean Wade. When asked if Brown's injury was concerning, Nurse didn't provide much clarity.

"Well, we want him out there, right? So I just know he can't play tonight," he said. "He's out tonight, that's what I know."

Brown has been perhaps the team's best perimeter defender so far this season, while also third in points per game (20.6).
